Paste the URL of a Google Doc. The doc must be shared as "Anyone with the link can view".
Tip: italics in your script show up as highlighted riff sections, and [bracketed text] becomes a dimmed stage direction that isn't meant to be read aloud. Press ? any time for the full list of shortcuts.
It scrolls your script smoothly up the screen at a speed you control, so you can keep your eyes up while you speak. Everything runs on your own computer: your script and settings are stored locally and are never uploaded anywhere. The only network access is fetching a Google Doc you explicitly link.
Press Space or the Play button. A 3-2-1 countdown runs, then the script scrolls at your chosen speed. Read the line crossing the blue guide line; text above it dims as already-read. While playing you can adjust speed with ↑/↓, jump with ←/→, or scrub anywhere with the mouse wheel. Pause to edit the text; Reset returns to the top.
The bottom bar shows the elapsed time since you started (in bold), the time left, and the estimated clock time you'll finish, based on the text remaining at your current speed. A thin progress bar runs along the bottom of the prompter.
The side panel sets your reading speed in words per minute, and (under Display settings) font, text size, line spacing, column width, and text/background colors. The ☀️/🌙 button swaps between dark and light color schemes. Mirror flips the text horizontally for beam-splitter teleprompter rigs; Fullscreen hides everything but the script (controls reappear when you hover). Drag the panel's left edge to resize it, or hide it with the » button. In the desktop app, the Opacity slider makes the whole window see-through so it can float over other apps — it always stays on top.

Why does my Google Doc need to be shared “Anyone with the link”?
The app reads the doc's web export directly, without signing in to your Google account. View-only link sharing is what makes that possible. Nothing is uploaded, and no one can edit your doc through the link.
My linked doc isn't updating.
Changes are picked up within about 10 seconds. Click the 🔗 badge to force a refresh. If it still doesn't update, check that link sharing is still on, or right-click the badge to unlink and import again.
Where are my script and settings stored?
Locally, in the app's own storage on your computer. Closing and reopening the app brings everything back. Clearing the app's browsing data erases it.
Does the elapsed timer stop when I pause?
No — it shows wall-clock time since you first pressed Play, including pauses, which is what matters for a live slot. Reset clears it. The finish estimate, by contrast, only looks forward: text remaining ÷ current speed.
How do I hit an exact running time?
Do one practice pass and watch the ends estimate in the bottom bar — it updates instantly when you change speed, so nudge ↑/↓ until the finish time matches your target.
What is Mirror for?
Professional teleprompter rigs bounce the screen off angled glass in front of the lens, which flips the image. Mirror pre-flips the text so it reads correctly in the reflection.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything works without a connection except Google Doc importing and syncing.
